WHEN REMOVAL IS THE RIGHT CALL
Not all insulation problems can be solved by adding more on top. When your existing insulation is contaminated, damaged, or degraded beyond useful life, removal is the critical first step to restoring your attic's performance. Covering up problems only masks them — and often makes them worse.
Our removal process uses industrial vacuum equipment to extract old insulation cleanly and efficiently, followed by a thorough inspection of the attic structure underneath. This gives us a clean slate to address air sealing, ventilation, and new insulation installation.
WHY INSULATION NEEDS REPLACING
PEST CONTAMINATION
Rodents, birds, and insects can nest in attic insulation, leaving droppings, urine, and nesting material that create health hazards and reduce insulation performance.
MOLD & MOISTURE DAMAGE
Wet or moldy insulation loses its thermal value completely and can spread mold spores through your home's air supply. It must be removed, not covered up.
SETTLING & COMPACTION
Old batt and loose-fill insulation settles over time, losing 20-40% of its original R-value. If your insulation has compressed to half its original depth, removal and replacement is often the best option.
RENOVATION PREP
Attic electrical work, HVAC installation, or structural repairs require insulation removal for access. We remove, store, or dispose of insulation and re-insulate when work is complete.
VERMICULITE (ASBESTOS RISK)
Some older homes have vermiculite insulation that may contain asbestos. We identify it during inspection and coordinate safe, certified removal if found.
SMOKE OR FIRE DAMAGE
Insulation that has been exposed to smoke or fire absorbs odors and particulates permanently. Full removal is the only way to eliminate the contamination.
HOW WE REMOVE INSULATION
INSPECTION
Free attic inspection to assess the condition of existing insulation and identify contamination or damage.
PROTECTION
Seal off the work area and protect your living space with dust barriers and drop cloths.
REMOVAL
Industrial vacuum extraction for loose-fill or manual removal for batt insulation. All material bagged for disposal.
CLEAN & INSPECT
Thorough cleaning of the attic floor and inspection of the structure, wiring, and ventilation underneath.
REBUILD
Air seal penetrations, upgrade ventilation if needed, and install fresh blown-in insulation to R-50 or higher.
